It seems in this day and age almost everyone has a blog on just about every topic imaginable. It's become the top way for most online businesses to market themselves and it's no different for writers. In fact, I think it's probably one of the best ways at the moment for writers to get noticed.

One place that seems to be working really well for me right now is a social networking site called Yuwie. It's completely free to sign up and everyone there gets their own blog. It's especially good if you don't have your own website yet and you don't know a lot about marketing because all you have to do is spend some time every day adding people to your friend base and then using your blog to advertise your work.

The biggest bonus to Yuwie is that you get paid for your activity there. The more you view other people's profiles and blogs, and the more your profile and blogs are viewed the more money you can make. Granted, you certainly won't get rich and you'll probably never make enough from it to support yourself, but there are some people making an extra few hundred dollars a month... and that certainly can't hurt.

There are a lot of other blogging sites you can use too, but I think Yuwie is probably the best choice until you've built up a good following... or you can do like me and use a combination of a few different blogging sites to increase your exposure.
